I read the announcement about applications opening for Femspec, and it really highlights how the journal is creating space for feminist scholarship and creative work that explores speculative and cultural ideas in fresh ways. It reminded me of a seminar where we talked about how academic journals can actually shape what kinds of voices get heard in literature and media studies. Do My Algebra Class came to mind because I’ve used that phrase during stressful study weeks when deadlines piled up. It made me think how opportunities like this reward consistency and effort rather than last-minute pressure.
