English class contributes to Latina FEMSPECThe Vindicator, Vol. 32, No. 4 (April 3-17, 2001)
The next issue of the on-campus feminist journal, FEMSPEC, will be dedicated to Latinas. The journal is inter-disciplinary and gives specific focus to science fiction, fantasy, surrealism, magical realism, and the supernatural. The publication has formed a working relationship with ENG 363, entitled "Latina Narratives," which is taught by Professor Batya Weinbaum who is also the editor of FEMSPEC. The class is exploring work from women whose cultural heritage is rooted in Latin America. Some of the students in the class are participating in a study group applying what they learn in class to pieces they are writing for the upcoming issue of FEMSPEC.
